47th minute: Gonzalez saves U.S. from Klose

Germany's Miroslav Klose almost made an immediate impact after subbing to start the second half. A cross came to Klose's head, but the U.S.'s Omar Gonzalez didn't give him much space, bothering Klose enough so that his header went over the bar.

And that's the half. Germany with the better chances, though the U.S. has had a moment or two. Six shots for Germany, and two for the United States. The U.S. still has yet to get a shot on target, though.

45th minute: Jones is everywhere

The U.S.'s Jermaine Jones again involved in attack, centering the ball for Michael Bradley near the top of the penalty area. Bradley's touch fails him, though, and he fouls an opponent as he stretches to regain the ball. No card, but Germany goes back the other way.

The U.S.'s Jermaine Jones is getting adventurous. Michael Bradley gave him a long pass up the middle but Jones just missed latching onto it, and Germany's Neuer cleared it.

The Germans are sending ...

We now have Germany's lineup. Bastian Schweinsteiger is back in the starting 11 after coming on as a substitute against Ghana on Sunday. Thomas Muller is Germany's leading goalscorer this tournament, with three. Watch for Miroslav Klose as a possible substitute -- one more goal from him and he'll be the World Cup's all-time leading scorer by himself.
